Technologically impaired

Have you been wondering why I'm frittering my life away on Facebook?  I can totally understand your concern.  It seems I have been perpetually showing up as logged onto Facebook for about the last nine months or so.  Earlier this evening, while on Facebook I was reading about one of my fabulous former students who recently graduated from high school.  She responded to a comment that "she's always on FB" with "my phone never logs me out".  Phone, log out?  I thought.  PHONE, LOG OUT?!  I check FB on my phone while nursing, I've never logged out, not ever.  I decided I'd better investigate this matter.  After putting Lulu to bed I came downstairs, got on the computer and logged into Kev's FB account (yes, I have his passwords and he has mine).  Lo and behold, guess who was on FB?  Yep, me. I had done exactly the same thing with my phone tonight as I've done every other night, thinking that because I wasn't actually ON Facebook, I wasn't ON Facebook.  Guess that's not the case.  I laughed so hard I thought I'd choke.   I quickly figured out how to log myself off of FB on my phone and my picture disappeared from "Friends on chat"....for perhaps the first time in nine months!  It's been a good long run Facebook!

Nothing at all to do with this post.  But isn't she a doll?  This was on her kindergarten visit day last week.  She'll be a kindergartener in less than 3 months.  She's so ready.  I'm so not.

Sneak Peek

The girls are off dancing the night away --until 9!  They have a recital on Saturday to get ready for.  So excited are they that they were unable eat dinner or complete sentences.  God bless their dance teacher Miss Marilyn!

6:55 on Friday evening.....

All of my children are tucked in bed and fast asleep.  One has been for an hour.  She's the one who is awake later than me most nights.  Guess that's what a slumber party will do to a girl :)!

9 months!

This is exactly what it's like trying to keep up with baby Lucy.  You can try, but I bet you she's faster.
Our Lulu is happy, friendly and full of energy.  Just like a little puppy!  In fact this morning Kevin and I caught her peeking out the front door window just like a certain someone used to do.

My first two cherubs were happy to sit in place and play with whatever mama plopped in front of them.  No one even attempted crawling until well into their tenth month.  And pulling up?  Nah!  They didn't do that until they were at least a year.

Lucy has already mastered the art of crawling and has moved on to pulling herself up and onto whatever she can.  This TV box proved to be loads of fun.
Can you blame them?  Too bad she can't read.

Of course when she's strapped in she turns on the charm.  Riding on an elevator in her stroller last week she was determined to make friends with every last person.  She has learned how to say "HI" ok, it sure sounds like "HI" and her intonation is perfect.  Anyway she greeted everyone and I'll tell you I don't think I've ever been on an elevator with 5 happier people!
Our sweet,  goofy baby.  Oh, how we love you Lucy!
9 month stats
Weight and Height- ?  She goes to the doctor this week so we'll see.   For a Baum baby she's a skinny one!  All that movin'!
Hair- red
Eyes- blue
Dimple- still there
Teeth- 5, with 1 more just about to pop through ...it was a big month!
Favorites- Crawling all over, singing, playing peek a boo, taking a bath, reading books, sitting outside, feeding herself cheerios

9 months?  Impossible that it's gone by so fast and yet hard to remember how life was before.

To market, To market

This perfect spring afternoon practically begged us to visit the Maplewood Farmer's Market.

We definitely like the market!

We chose cucumbers and basil for our garden.

Eleanor was delighted to find fresh spinach!  Yum!  Spinach salad!

In the middle of trying an arugula flower "pretty good".

Empanadas.  Again, yum!  We tried cherry and weren't disappointed.  Next time, lemon, or blueberry, or apple.....

We also came home with fresh rye bread and pretzels plus three different cheeses, clearly we have cheese issues.

All you need is love...

This is the card Eleanor made for Lucy's baptism

I chuckled to myself as she dictated the words for me.  I wrote them down then she carefully typed them with a little help from Grandpa and Kyra.
Later in the evening as I was putting away all of the sweet memories of Lucy's special day, this note resonated a bit differently.  I didn't see it as yet another example of a five year old who never knew there was a box to think inside of but rather as proof positive she knows what love is all about.  What she wrote in this card is what we all really want to hear, isn't it?  To hear, I think things will be just fine, but if not, if this thing goes off into a ditch, I'm right here with you.  That's love.

A beautiful baptism

May 1st, what a happy day!  Lucy was baptized.  The morning weather cooperated with blue skies and sun.  Uncle Ed and Aunt Kathy are Lucy's Godparents and we couldn't have chosen a better pair!
