Summer Scene 4: Hot, hot, hot

It's 8:00 am and we're soaking wet.  Happily it's with cool sprinkler water and not sweat.

They say it's your birthday.....

Today my baby brother turns 30 years old!  In my mind it was just yesterday when he was cruising down the block on his big wheel after partying hard at Show Biz Pizza!  I love you!

Hmmm, maybe that was just yesterday!

11 months

Our girl Lucy is a summer baby!

11 month stats:
No current weight or height
Eyes- hazel
Hair- red and curly
Dimples- yes, still there!

This girl is a great communicator!  She has one hand gesture that means- bye, night night, more, and yummy.  We're never confused about which she means.  She has varying grunts meaning- give it to me, come here, I want down, and pick me up.  Again, never are we confused.

Right now she loves:
-her sisters being home, when she can't find them she crawls around saying "mmma, llle, mmma, lle"
 -splashing around in the pool
-swinging high on her swing
- juicy fruit, mama's homemade pasta sauce,  plain yogurt, cheerios and shredded cheese, all of which she insists on feeding herself while making an amazing mess
-figuring out how to crawl into or pull up onto everything including laundry baskets, side tables and under chairs
-spending her days in barely more than a diaper (see above eating habits)
-riding down the sidewalk in her her pink car
-pointing at everything she sees while we tell her what it is

Cardinals WIN!

Well, the team didn't actually win the game, but as far as we're concerned the night was a win!  Emma won tickets to the game through the summer reading program at the library, which really is so perfect!  We had junk food for dinner, dessert and snack, stayed up way past bed time and we were on the stadium screen!  The game exceeded our sweet 5 and 7 year olds expectations!

It rained buckets causing two rain delays.  We left during the second one.  The stormy weather made for an amazing sky.  Plus we had umbrellas which made it sort of an adventure.
Kevin gave the girls a scorecard lesson.  Emma loved learning  about it all.  I have a feeling we'll be listening to some baseball this weekend.  Eleanor had fun writing all the players' names.

Always up for a picture.

Not now mom, I'm watching the game!

Right now

For the last few years being truly present has been my number one goal.  Sounds kind of corny but it's been huge in my life and the life of my little family.  Of course, there are times when I let my mind travel into the unknown and I fret, I worry, I wonder. Today though I cannot imagine a better place than the spot I stand.  In fact if I had a time freezer I'd zap these moments and stay here for a loooong time.  We've settled into the nicest summer rhythm.  We're not doing much of anything.  We aren't even leaving the house much.  There's lots of reading, baking, imagining, gymnastics, dress up, plays, gardening and laughing.  For now, the big girls are playing like two peas in a pod.  I know this will fade, maybe slowly over the next few weeks and maybe like an avalanche in an hour.  But this is the moment I'm in and I'm so happy to be right here.

Celebrate!

This weekend we celebrated from start to finish!

Eleanor turned 5 and a half!
Kevin and I celebrated 11 fabulous years of marriage!

Mom retired!  Here she is getting her calendar set for summer!

Our family was together for the first time since Thanksgiving.  Baby Lucy was already fast asleep....looks like Eleanor wishes she was too!  What a fun night we had celebrating mom's retirement with friends and family!

Independence Day celebrated with the Hillcrest parade, swimming and a bbq.  The girls were in the pool ALL afternoon!  Just perfect!

So very thankful to have so much to celebrate with my family!
